These students have all participated in Project Prima Volta, and have experienced the highs of working, rehearsing and performing together weekly sometimes for several years. Many have gone on to study music at University and beyond. All they had in common, was that they wanted to sing.

The Prima Volta Charitable Trust empowers the PPV programme with the underlying vision of enriching the community with high-quality singing-based experiences for rangatahi. Our criteria for your participation is not based on your singing talent, but on the possibilities you bring to your audition.

If you're successful, we offer:

• Free Weekly singing programme
• Regular performance opportunities (with NZSO/NCC/Festival Opera/Song Recital Series/Tours)
• Free singing tuition
• Free music theory tuition

PVCT partners with Festival Opera for its annual opera season, where PPV students share the stage with professional opera singers from around the world in a fully staged production, accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and delivered to a paying audience of up to 1,000 people each night. This is the key experience of the programme.

PPV is limited to 30-35 committed students and is not fee-paying. Those accepted agree to dedicate their time to music learning, their energies to focusing during rehearsals and their goodwill to supporting the programme with various responsibilities that help us continue to offer the PPV programme.
